Charleston morning - iPhone

There have been a lot of incredible speakers at the 2010 NPPA Convergence in Charleston South Carolina. But the lessons continue after hours. I shot a quick video of Edit Foundry‘s Shawn Montano as he dove into a quick lesson on how to shoot Tony Overman (in a bikini) for a sequence while eating dinner at a restaurant in downtown Charleston. Great stuff so far and amazing people.

Thanks Jeff, now I cannot get the song outta my head! A few sign photos from a short but dam fun trip to Hoover Dam.

Don't tell me. Just don't say it. I will not forget jumping out on the freeway with the guys to shootout with this sign ouside of the Hoover Dam. (yup it's oversaturated)

Pizza fears TonyO

Tony’s Pizza fears Tony Overman. At least that’s what it told me.

Convergence arrival and the board meeting

This morning was far too early leaving from Colorado, but it was worth it. As soon as I touched down I talked with Russ who was getting ready for the executive meeting. Took a quick, crazy shuttle to the Flamingo and found my way to the board room. More later.

Today we went on a short trip from Ft. Collins to Estes Park then into the Rocky Mountain National Park. We went up what’s known around Colorado as the ‘Highest Road in America‘ then made the relatively short climb to the top of a peak above the road. As soon as we started our climb the wind picked up and then were pelted with hard snow pellets (not hail) and driven off the peak. Watch the really short video for a ‘audio’ tell on the weather…. *photos below*

Wii eat cake — for breakfast

So if you are wondering what’s going on with this industry blog of mine, well these last posts are the beginning of my travel log to the NPPA Convergence in Las Vegas. I decided to take a slight detour through Colorado because I was asked to arrive in Vegas on Tuesday instead of Monday. Arriving at the Probst house in Ft. Collins has been a wonderful break away from work. Being fortunate enough to celebrate Amanda’s birthday (Nathan’s wife) and watch their three most excellent boys (while enjoying their new Wii) has been fun. Now today, we are going to Estes Park in the Rocky Mountain National Park for a hike and lunch.

Noah takes a long look at his mother's birthday cake early in the morning. We ate Amanda's cake shortly after for breakfast.

Nathan picks me up and I’m beat. Plan to post more on this later. The video is kinda interesting since he thought I was shooting stills and there’s a lot of car noise that the camera cuts through really well. Oh, the playable version (in this window is pretty flash-mashed thanks to blip.tv. To see how the camera really did with very, very bad light click here.

Up, up and arriving at dark

So made it onto the plane and was fortunate that the cloudy day was, well, not so cloudy for the summit of Mount Rainier. I’m still figuring out this new pocket camera so I plan to try and run it through the paces.

The time at the upper right is right. With Mountain Time, I loose an hour so it’s later than what I would expect and… I’m one of the few remaining people at the Denver International Airport.
