About
“Where’s TJ? OK… I don’t get it…”:
When google mail invites were hard to get, I knew a friend of a friend of a friend that gave me one of his ‘5 invites.’ I wanted a short e-mail that didn’t require spelling my last name, so I came up with findtj. When I started looking for shorter domains, find.tj was taken, so I grabbed whereis.tj. Close enough to my e-mail and still humorous. It’s also worth noting that the .tj is registered in Tajikistan, one of the countries within the region I represent as AD of the NPPA, region 11.
What about wearemytown?? Well that was a 2 a.m. idea gone awry. I bought the domain name after being awake for too many hours and then decided it would be OK to use for a work, NPPA and multimedia quick-blog. Hope you find it useful!
A bit about me:
I am a happy guy who likes to take pictures (still and moving), design just about anything and occasionally program something.
I used be an art student that became a journalist that moved back to his hometown to market the region only to jump back into the media pool.
I continue to be inspired by what others create, fueling my desire to dig deeper to achieve my goals.
If that is too stuffy of a description, then chew on this… I want to continue to be a happy guy; to do that I challenge myself constantly and ask for criticism to improve.
To do’s:
If you know me, you know that I have too many to occupy my waking hours. If you don’t I need to make a list for you sometime.
The short take:
I loathe my title at the Yakima Herald-Republic: News Producer. Since none came before me with what I can do, that’s what I got.
I also am the Associate Director for my local NPPA chapter, Region 11.
The most important info:
I am constantly amazed and love my wonderful wife, two sons and very large family.
What I expect of this journalism blog:
I work darn hard to find ways to tell important stories, whether it be online, print or broadcast. However, I am no expert, simply someone trying to find ways to make the process of getting stories done more efficient in a changing industry. I will pass on the successes and miserable failures on this site so others can learn.
Note: What I write about on this site do not in any way represent the views or policies of the Yakima Herald-Republic.
